What am I doing here, anyway?

Wow. The last time I posted anything here was…ummm, in June. A lot has happened since then…and very little of it good. However, many months, a new job, and massive amounts of therapy later, it looks like I’m officially Back in the Saddle and ready to spray the Internet (and, therefore, your eyeballs, Dear Reader) with my particular, peculiar blend of juvenile enthusiasm and world-weary spleen!

What does this mean? Well, for one…a new theme: something grey and depressing, but easy-to-read and clean, almost minimalistic. But also, a number of older posts have disappeared. Important or interesting stuff remains, of course; I’ve simply deleted material that A) never developed properly; or B) is neither timely anymore nor of any historical interest. Simple housecleaning, that’s all.

What does the coming new year promise? A great deal more writing. For one, readers of PEGRITZ(.com)!’s sister sites, NONFICTION!, Oneirophrenia.net, and Footnotes to the Human Species will discover said sites brought into closer alignment with my primary site and completely revised/restructured/remade for 2008. Don’t worry: redirects will abound. Readers may need to update an RSS feed here or there, but that’s about it.

My band, Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos (official site), will be finishing its “second” album, Strange Aeons, in the early months of 2008, and will, of course, provide it free of charge online as high-quality (>256kbps), Creative-Commons-licensed mp3s. That’s right, free.

Plus, I’m working on a ton of other music, as well. Expect new jams from A Doctrine of Works, Retar-D2, and my latest project, Excitable Boy!

Speaking of music…my music-review blog, The Spacing Guild Guide to Good Music, is going away. Vox.com barely gets any traffic, and, though it features some excellent tools and abilities that make maintaining a music-blog very easy…well, the site barely gets any traffic. So, all of its content is going to migrate over hyar, and will be expanded considerably with even more reviews and mp3 samples! In other words, don’t just take my word on a piece of music: give it a listen yourself.

This year, I resolve to do my absolute best to update this site regularly. I doubt I’ll be able to do so, but…hey, I’ll try.

Here’s the hoping 2008 won’t be as miserable as 2007 was!
